On a warm afternoon nearly an entire year after Panic En La Playa Cancun another Caribbean resort began filling up with Widespread Panic fans. The hiatus was over, the "Best Day Ever" flag unfurled, and many people who hadn't seen each other since Mexico began connecting in the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana. Cloud 9 Adventures made massive improvements: the resort was a major upgrade that almost doubled the size to allow nearly everyone a chance to find a room, a token system for repeat offenders, and the overall quality of the experience. The band was in full form; performing four nights in front of many of their biggest fans from all over the world in a tropical paradise. The time, distance, and sacrifice that were necessary to attend this event reflected in the band's performance. All eight sets had moments that were quintessential to the band's progression over the many years and showed how much the band still is growing.

• Hard Rock Hotel: Friendly and accomodative staff... every building looks the same and the resort is insanely huge! The best way to get your bearings is by checking the building numbers via their respective and abysmal wifi signals. Before it's all over you'll have walked 50 miles without knowing it.
• Positive Legacy raises over $37,000 for the cause from auctioning a signed Washburn guitar ($18,500), Autograph picture from Red Rocks ($4,500), and more.
• The stage is decorated with 2 large lizard prints on either side and the 'Panic En La Playa' insignia overhead, designed specifically for the event by poster artist Jeff Wood.
• No big bustouts neccessary... just a whole lotta covers (8 each night), classics (average song vintage: 1992), and only 6 post-Houser era originals.
• Sound Engineer Dros has a brilliant House music mix including hits like Rock Steady, Give Me Everything, Stone Free, War Pigs, La Grange, Blind, and best of all, an absolutely ass-shaking Baby Got Back post show throwdown.
• With a spotty wifi-signal on the beach, Zman's plugged into the soundboard and streaming the monitor mix live, and Coloartist graciously broadcasts the shows uninterrupted 30 minutes after showtime.
• Chewbacca definitely gets around, and he wears his coat in the middle of the summertime.
• When folks aren't peeing in the ocean during the show, Rod Stewart is watching inside every bathroom.
• Drink of choice: Presidente, Dirty Monkey, Miami Vice, Mamajuana.
• The checkout process is rough, hope you all catch your scheduled flight home!

My partner in crime was Dany as usual. Getting connected, and secondly staying connected was a tough task. Bennett was in the same boat as he worked feverishly to stay connected to provide a stream as well. We all cheer each other's efforts on in hopes we can keep the music flowing.
