Song Origins

Pigeons

A Conversation with David Schools at O.B. And Jack's House (04/01/1995)

DS: Oh ok. "Pigeons" is a good strong opener, a funky dance song. From a bass player's point of view it's a pure funk, sort of a reggae kind of funk feel, but the reggae's sped up so fast it doesn't appear to be reggae. I get to play a little bass solo in it. And basically it's a song about... people who are negative and always trying to throw you down. It's a pretty simple analogy. You're washing windows and there's pigeons on the roof. Every time you make a window clean, someone takes a shit on it.
