Porch Song

A Conversation with David Schools at O.B. And Jack's House (04/01/1995)
Dave Schools: "Porch Song!" Called the "Porch Song" because we wrote it sitting on the front porch of our band house, where you could watch the cop run his speed trap down King Avenue in Athens. He'd net about twelve people an hour, almost. You know, we'd sit on the porch and watch the people go by, watch the cats. At the time Mike was working at the Dominoes, JB was working at the nursery. I was working delivering flowers. It's just about being in a band, having to work, and still having a good time. Being able to sit on the porch, watch things go by.
R&R: So what is "Living the moon time"?
DS: Living the moon time: staying up all night. ________________
"Mikey got a letter in the mail from his Dad that he opened and read on his front porch. The letter talked about where Mikey was heading with his life and that he really needed to get his studies together because playing in a band wasn't a sure thing and he needed to be ready for the real world. The letter ended with Mikey's Dad saying, "Alright son, It's time to live it up" -D.P. Swint
