Seventy shows and two hemispheres. The 1998 spring run actually opened in Australia in early March — a short club crawl through Sydney, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Adelaide, and Melbourne — before the band came home to do what it does. This was still the founding six, Michael "Mikey" Houser on guitar, the lineup that held together until 2002.

But there's really only one date anyone needs. On April 18, 1998, Panic threw a free show on Washington Street in downtown Athens to mark the release of their first live album, *Light Fuse, Get Away*. They planned for maybe twenty thousand people; an estimated hundred thousand showed up — widely called the largest record-release party ever thrown, and captured on its own live release, *Panic in the Streets*. The afternoon doubled as a debut factory: "All Time Low," "Christmas Katie," and "One Arm Steve" all got their first airing there, a year before they'd land on *'Til the Medicine Takes*.

The rest of the tour kept the shelf busy — a "Time Is Free Jam" surfacing after a 432-show gap, "Sweet Leaf" back after 239 — and stretched across the Atlantic for a London stop before winding down in early August. "Tall Boy" led the Most Played column at twenty-five. A hometown block party, a passport, and seventy nights of a band at full altitude.
